The Plant Based Diet Evolution
Over the last three years, I have learned many things about my fitness and nutrition journey. At the top of the list is; my journey is continuously evolving and now the evolution as taken me to the prospects of a plant based diet.
As I took my first steps inside the fitness and nutrition world, it was, at times, an overwhelming experience. There was something new to learn and figure out every week. As time went on, I was able to hone in on the things that worked for me and things that didn’t. And just as important was learning not to be critical of myself when things didn’t go as planned. Loving myself was at the top of that list. Let’s not forget having an open mind will go a long way towards reaching your goals!
After all, its progress we strive for, not perfection Click To Tweet
I learned, just because something works for someone else, that doesn’t mean it will work for me. I figured out whatever I try; it has to be sustainable and fit with my personality. For example, there’s no way I could get up at 5 am to work out at 6 am every day, hats off to those who commit to the 6 am class at Forged by Fire CrossFit.,  coached by Graham  I know I could, for a few days, but in reality, for me was not sustainable. For me, the perfect time was and still is right after work at 5 pm and on Saturday mornings at 9:30 am or 10:45 am.
Now three years into my fitness and nutrition journey, a significant evolution is about to take place!

The Plant based diet!
I’m not for or against any particular nutrition and fitness lifestyles; you’ll see I’ll be writing on various fitness and nutrition choices. But, the plant based diet is one I’m about to dive into! I’d encourage you to watch the movie
“The Game Changers” on Netflix, well worth the watch!

I’m a carnivore. I love meat; Beef, chicken, pork, and fish. I’ve even eaten kangaroo, that, that was delicious!
I never thought I’d even be open to the idea of a plant based diet, but as evolution theories go, things will change as your surroundings change. My biggest reservation was my thinking I’d never be able to get my daily macros goals, specifically protein. But as I looked into and started to experiment with plant based meals, I found it possible to meet all my macro goals.
As I write this post, I’m thinking about my inside body health, which, science backs up the notion a plant based diet is an excellent way to tackle health issues many people suffer from; inflammation, increased LDL, heart disease and cancers to name a few. For me, I’m at the right time in my life where trying a plant based diet may work and be sustainable.
Where to Start?
For the past six months or so, I have been introducing plant based foods into my diet without realizing I would eventually be considering a diet wholly made of plant based foods. I still have meat and other food in the carnivore sphere in my freezer and fridge. I plan to go plant based one day and then the next day eat like I have been until my meat, fish, dairy and eggs are all consumed. Â I figure this will give me more time to add other plant based proteins into my pantry. For a list of protein-packed and nutrient-dense planet based foods I have already incorporated into my diet click here
I have no idea how long or if I’ll stay on a plant based diet, remember the open mind I mentioned?
I almost forgot to mention; I also incorporated a daily 17 hour fast. I’ll start writing that post right away, so check back soon or sign up for my newsletter to be notified when I publish a new post or when I add a new plant based food or recipe!
Comments are always appreciated; let’s start a conversation!
Augustin – I started on my fitness and nutrition journey when I was 53. Along the way, I became passionate about sharing my journey, hoping to inspire others to begin their journey.
