My First Comp
2017 Festivus Games Competition!
As I write this on the eve of the 2018 Festivus Partner Competition, I’m both excited and a little nervous. It’s my second Festivus Games Competition and my first Festivus Partner Competition. The adrenaline is already pumping through my body, anticipating the feeling of weights on my muscles, exhausted inhales and exhales, heart beating fast and sweat dripping off my body. Oh, let us not forget the cheering crowd.
The moment I walked through the doors of Rock Jungle Crossfit for my first competition, I could sense competition in the air. My heart raced a little, and my breath was deep and slow; I took it all in. I was more nervous than excited.[the_ad id=”564″]
After checking in and connecting with the athletes from my home gym, Forged By Fire CrossFit, I started to come down a bit. I realized how aware I was of everything around me; all of my senses tuned in. Everything was so clear. The only way I can describe it was on a natural high.
My heat was second to compete. The WODs were posted a week or so before competition day, so I had an opportunity to practise. Although I could do the movements, they were a tad difficult.[the_ad id=”564″]
The MC counted down to go and WOW! It was incredible!
I was amazed by the energy I had and how little I had to eat to maintain the same level of energy! Backward lunges with a 90-pound barbell at the rack position coupled with power cleans, seemed so smooth and easy.
I made it to the final round and the Podium!
Wall balls and American kettlebell swings. 50, 40, 30, 20, 10 reps of each! It was a tough one!
Crossfit and Forged By Fire taught me I CAN DO so much more than I think I can, and Festivus Games proved it!
